MCC History, Memory & Storytelling PANEL

April 29, 2021

Maamoul Press presented a virtual panel titled History, Memory & Storytelling for the Multicultural Community Center (MCC) at UC-Berkely Weeks & Nights of Cultural Resistance, whose theme this year was Holding Our Threads: Embracing our communal histories and lineages of resistance, survival, and creativity.

When we tell our own stories, we write our own histories, analyze our present realities, and imagine our collective futures. Comics creators Kawtar Azzouzi, Soumya Dhulekar and Nadia Shammas joined moderator, Maamoul Press co-founder Aya Krisht in a panel discussing the presence and importance of personal and collective history and memory in our work, and the role of storytelling in preserving and shaping our own narratives.
