The “X” emblem is made up of square Kufic Arabic spelling “Malcolm X” as well as “Al-Hajj Malek Al-Shabazz” (in the smaller square), the name that Malcolm X took upon completing his Hajj pilgrimage.
T-shirt purchase comes with an 8-page booklet with information, images and artwork from the Malcolm X Returns project, while supplies last.
This design was originally created for Malcolm X Returns/Narratives of Hope, a series of events and workshops held at the American University of Beirut in 2015, commemorating the 50th anniversary of Malcolm X’s visit to Beirut.
