POP-UP FOR PALESTINE

Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024

This free, drop-in style event hosted at Cairo Coffee/Spot Lite Detroit featured a pop-up shop raising funds towards Gaza mutual aid, solidarity-building activities, and a book launch.

BOOK LAUNCH
The launch of A Normal Conversation In A Normal Household, a new sketch diary zine by Palestinian artist Amal El-Nakhala. The zine collects short comics and illustrations reflecting on Amal’s experience living under the genocidal war on Gaza and escaping to Cairo.

ZINE-MAKING
Leila Abdelrazaq leads a workshop where participants will contribute to a collaborative zine. Drop in and create one or more pages responding to the prompt: “Why do you stand in solidarity with Gaza?” The responses will be compiled into a 5.5”x4.25” zine, printed, and dropped at locations around Detroit.

LETTERPRESS PRINTING
Pull your own Arabic metal type letterpress print with a solidarity message, on a Kelsey press. Led by Aya Krisht.

POP-UP SHOP
Our full lineup of comics, zines, prints, apparel and more, with proceeds supporting Gaza mutual aid efforts. + Exclusive at this pop-up only: Items from Offbeat Citrus raising funds in support of Gaza Poets Society.
